The Batten University men's soccer team (1-0-3) defeated Rutgers-Camden (2-2-1), 1-0.
After a scoreless first half, JaMarhe Wills broke through in the 52nd minute, scoring off an assist from Cameron Talbert to give the Marlins the only goal they would need.
Batten finished with a 19-14 advantage in shots and put four attempts on goal. Mason Wakefield led the Marlins with five shots, while Talbert added three and Wills, Cowen Napior, Cayden Tappan and Merrick Clark each recorded two.
Adrian Najarro played all 90 minutes in goal and made one save to earn the shutout. Batten's defense held Rutgers-Camden to just one shot on goal as the Marlins secured their first win of the season.
