The Batten University men's soccer team played Shenandoah University to a 0-0 draw. The Marlins moved to 1-2-5 overall and 0-0-1 in ODAC play, while Shenandoah moved to 2-2-4 overall and 0-0-1 in conference play.
Batten generated the first shot on goal of the match in the 22nd minute when Cowen Napior put an attempt on frame, but it was turned away by the Shenandoah goalkeeper. Cameron Talbert added another opportunity in the 32nd minute, sending his shot wide left.
Shenandoah produced its best chance of the opening half in the 39th minute, but Adrian Najarro made the save to keep the match scoreless entering halftime.
The Marlins came out attacking early in the second half. David Nalls put a shot on goal in the 49th minute that was saved, while Tyler Hiatt sent an attempt wide in the 62nd minute.
The Hornets nearly broke through in the 84th minute when an attempt struck the crossbar. Batten's defense held firm, and Najarro made another save with less than a minute remaining to preserve the shutout.
Batten created one final opportunity in the closing seconds as Ulices Rodriguez put a shot on target with four seconds remaining, but the attempt was saved to secure the 0-0 final.
The Marlins finished with six shots, including three on goal, compared to seven shots and two on goal for Shenandoah. Talbert led Batten with two shots, while Napior, Nalls and Rodriguez each recorded a shot on goal. Najarro played all 90 minutes in goal and made two saves to record the clean sheet. Batten also finished with three corner kicks.
