Omari DeVeaux begins his first season as a Graduate Assistant Coach with the Batten University men's basketball program after completing a standout five-year playing career with the Marlins.
A Henrico, Va., native and Douglas S. Freeman High School graduate, DeVeaux was a four-year contributor for the Marlins and earned Second Team All-ODAC honors in 2022-23. He capped his career with one of the most decorated seasons in program history in 2025-26, earning ODAC Player of the Year, First Team All-ODAC, NABC First Team All-District, NABC All-District Player of the Year and First Team All-American honors. He was also selected to participate in the 2026 Division III College All-Star Game and earned Second Team All-Region recognition from D3hoops.com.
During his time at Batten, DeVeaux developed a passion for coaching and mentoring young athletes. From 2023 through 2026, he served as a coach and youth advisor with the Blue Marlins Basketball Camp, working with players ages 6-17 on basketball fundamentals, individual skill development and character building. He also helped coach and mentor camp volunteers and attendees.
DeVeaux previously served as a camp counselor with RockIT Sports in Henrico from 2020-24, where he organized recreational activities, including basketball, while promoting physical health, teamwork and skill development. He also volunteered with the Freeman High School All-Star Team and assisted with a special needs basketball league.
As a graduate assistant, DeVeaux brings a unique perspective to the Marlins program, combining his experience as a former standout player with several years of coaching, mentoring and youth-development experience. His familiarity with Batten basketball and the Division III game will be an asset as he begins his coaching career with the program he represented throughout his collegiate career.
