The Batten University women's soccer team earned a 2-0 victory over Bowdoin. The win moved the Marlins to 8-0-2 on the season.
Batten controlled much of the opening half, outshooting Bowdoin 10-4 and earning seven corner kicks. The Marlins broke through in the 41st minute when Ariana Lozier found the back of the net off an assist from Courtney Mills, giving Batten a 1-0 advantage heading into halftime.
The Marlins continued to create opportunities after the break before Alaina Alston doubled the lead in the 79th minute. Alston scored her ninth goal of the season at the 78:47 mark to extend the Batten advantage to 2-0.
Batten finished the match with a 19-9 advantage in shots, putting six attempts on goal. Alexis Manfredi, Courtney Mills, Christina Ensuar and Lozier each recorded three shots, while Mills put two of her attempts on frame and picked up the assist on the opening goal.
The Marlins' defense kept Bowdoin off the scoreboard for the full 90 minutes. Allie Greco played the entire match in goal and made two saves to earn the shutout.
Batten also held a 7-6 advantage in corner kicks while limiting Bowdoin to just two shots on goal.
