Baseball Places Three Student-Athletes on CSC Academic All-District Team

The Virginia Wesleyan University baseball team had three student-athletes named to the 2025-26 CSC Academic All-District Team. Selected by College Sports Communicators, the Academic All-District program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined achievements on the field and in the classroom. The Marlins' honorees were Nathan Bryant, Gino Meienschein, and Nick Valentin.

Gino Meienschein was one of the top hitters in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, leading the Marlins with a .409 batting average while starting all 39 games. He totaled 56 hits, 40 runs scored, eight doubles, one triple, four home runs, and 28 RBI. Meienshein also posted a .534 on-base percentage and a .569 slugging percentage while adding 11 stolen bases and a .989 fielding percentage.

Nick Valentin continued to be a key contributor in the middle of the Marlins lineup, appearing in 37 games and batting .311. He recorded 42 hits, 13 doubles, six home runs, 29 RBI, and 39 runs scored while producing a .541 slugging percentage and a .399 on-base percentage. Valentin also finished the season with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.

Nathan Bryant earned Academic All-District honors after serving as a dependable presence behind the plate for Virginia Wesleyan. Bryant appeared in 29 games with 27 starts, collecting 20 hits, five doubles, and 15 RBI. Defensively, he posted a .994 fielding percentage, committing just one error in 179 chances while recording 163 putouts and helping guide the Marlins pitching staff throughout the season.

The trio's recognition highlights Virginia Wesleyan's commitment to excellence both in competition and in the classroom, as Bryant, Meienshein, and Valentin represented the Marlins among the nation's top academic and athletic performers.
