Batten University women's soccer improved to 2-0-0 with a 2-0 victory over Chapman University, which fell to 0-1-0.
Alaina Alston and Kaylyn Seitz led the Marlins offensively, while Batten also received a strong performance in goal. Alston opened the scoring in the 39th minute with her fifth goal of the season off an assist from Seitz. Seitz then added a goal of her own in the 87th minute to secure the victory.
In goal, Batten's keeper Allie Greco earned the win and helped preserve the clean sheet, making four saves on four Chapman shots on goal. Three of those saves came in the first half as the Marlins carried a 1-0 lead into the break.
Batten controlled much of the match, finishing with a 10-6 advantage in shots and a 5-3 edge in corner kicks. The Marlins' defense kept Chapman off the scoreboard for the full 90 minutes, allowing Seitz's late goal to put the finishing touch on the 2-0 victory.
