Batten University and Moravian University played to a 1-1 draw, moving the Marlins to 0-0-2 and the Greyhounds to 1-0-1 on the season.
Mason Wakefield provided the equalizer for Batten, scoring his third goal of the season off an assist from Rodrigue Moussa. Adrian Najarro did well in net, playing all 90 minutes, allowed one goal, and registered two saves.
Moravian opened the scoring in the 24th minute when Enzo Petruzzellli found the back of the net to give the Greyhounds a 1-0 advantage. Batten generated three shots in the opening half, including an attempt on goal from Mustafa Elwasila in the 19th minute, but entered halftime trailing by one.
The Marlins increased the pressure after the break and eventually found the equalizer at the 70:18 mark. Following a Batten corner kick, Rodrigue Moussa helped create the scoring opportunity and connected with Wakefield, who finished the chance to level the match at 1-1. The goal was Wakefield's lone shot of the contest, while Moussa picked up the assist.
Batten continued to push for a winner following Wakefield's goal. Ulices Rodriguez and Tanner Wheatley each put shots on target less than four minutes after the equalizer, while Noah Kowalko forced another save in the 90th minute. The Marlins finished the second half with seven shots and three corner kicks after recording three shots and no corners in the opening 45 minutes.
Adrian Najarro played all 90 minutes in goal for Batten, making two saves while allowing just the one first-half goal. JaMarhe Wills and Tanner Drought each played the full 90 minutes for the Marlins as Batten kept Moravian off the scoreboard throughout the second half.
Batten generated five shots on goal from 10 total attempts and held a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks. The Marlins' defense also limited Moravian to three shots on goal while making two saves to preserve the draw.
