Matt Sinko and Ian Brady Collect VaSID All-State Honors

NEWPORT NEWS, Virginia - The 2022 Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) College Division All-State Baseball Team was announced Tuesday afternoon with a pair of Marlins receiving post season accolades. Catcher Matt Sinko and relief pitcher Ian Brady both earned spots on the VaSID All-State second-team for their efforts throughout the season.

Matt Sinko had the fourth best batting average on the team at .317 while starting in all 35 games for the Marlins, either as catcher or the designated hitter. In his 145 at-bats he scored 19 runs on 46 hits, including a team-high 10 doubles, one triple, and four home runs to drive in 36 runs while collecting 70 total bases. Sinko collected an on-base percentage of .368 and a slugging percentage of .483. Sinko garnered ODAC second-team all-conference honors following the season.

Ian Brady was the go-to closer for the Marlins throughout most of the season while also finding his way onto the mound to start four games. In his 42 and one-third innings pitched, Brady gave up 29 runs, 22 earned, on 58 hits for a 4.68 ERA.

VaSID names 44 all-state teams in 23 sports each year, as well as an Academic All-State squad and an all-sports champion in both the University and College Divisions. Membership in VaSID is open to all media relations professionals working at a university or conference in the state of Virginia.
