The Batten University women's soccer team (1-0) opened the 2026 season in dominant fashion, rolling to a 9-0 victory over Regent University.
Toone's five-assist performance was historic for the Marlins, tying for the second-most assists in a single game in Batten women's soccer history. It also marked the most assists by a Batten women's soccer player in a game since 1995. Toone had a hand in five of Batten's nine goals, while Alston led all scorers with four goals.
Six different Marlins scored in the victory, with Alston leading the way with four goals. Nguyen finished with a goal and an assist, Seitz added two assists and Toone highlighted the night with her five-assist performance as Batten began the 2026 campaign with a shutout victory.
Batten controlled nearly every aspect of the match, finishing with a 37-1 advantage in shots and a 14-1 edge in shots on goal. The Marlins also earned 10 corner kicks while holding Regent without a corner.
Batten wasted little time taking control of the match, scoring six goals in the opening 21 minutes. Alaina Alston started the scoring just 2:16 into the contest off an assist from Madison Toone. Alston struck again less than three minutes later, this time off a feed from Kaylyn Seitz, before completing her hat trick in the 10th minute on another Toone assist.
Emma Nguyen added to the early surge with her first goal of the season at the 6:53 mark, while Paige Bissell found the back of the net in the 15th minute. Alston then capped her four-goal performance at 20:13, scoring off an assist from Nguyen to give Batten a 6-0 advantage.
The Marlins continued to add on in the second half. Janessa Lowe scored in the 58th minute before Victoria Mills and Alexis Manfredi each found the net in the closing minutes to finish off the 9-0 victory. Toone assisted on both late goals, bringing her total to five assists on the night.
