The Batten University men's tennis team defeated Catholic University, 4-1, claiming the doubles point before securing three singles victories to clinch the match.

The Marlins opened the day by winning two of the three doubles matches. At No. 1 doubles, Jed Platts and Ulrik Øye Jåsund rolled to a 6-1 victory over Ian Ricardo Arenas and Lorenzo Neri. Simon Öster and Frieso ter Schiphorst followed with a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles against Jacob Hershey and Flynn Hollinger to secure the doubles point for Batten. At No. 3, Tudor Vlad and Sebastien Muller fell 6-2 to Luke Hynes and Francis DeLucia.

Batten carried its momentum into singles play, picking up victories at the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 5 positions.

Platts battled back after dropping the opening set at No. 1 singles. Facing Neri, Platts responded to a 6-1 first-set loss by taking the second set 7-5 before winning the deciding super tiebreak 10-6.

Öster turned in a strong performance at No. 2 singles, defeating Hollinger in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0. Vlad added another straight-set victory for the Marlins at No. 5, cruising past Hershey, 6-2, 6-0.

Arenas earned Catholic's lone singles victory, defeating Jåsund 7-6 (4), 6-1 at No. 3.

Two matches remained unfinished after Batten secured the team victory. Muller was leading DeLucia 4-5 in the second set after dropping the opening set 6-3 at No. 4 singles, while ter Schiphorst had taken the opening set against Drew Andrianopoulos 7-6 (4) at No. 6.
